Admission

Admissions for B.Arch., degree program is open to all Indians and foreign nationals, fulfilling the minimum requirements for admission as per the norms of Council of Architecture, New Delhi and Anna University, Chennai.

Admissions – Government Quota: Counselling Code – 1146

Admissions for the B.Arch., degree programme in the open quota, is in accordance with the single- window
counselling procedures of the Anna University, Chennai.

Under Govt quota – Students allotted admission under counselling, there are following 4 categories:

1. Govt quota – general.

2. Govt quota – First graduate.

3. Govt quota – 7.5% reservation for students who studied in govt schools from 6th to 12th.

4. Govt quota – SC/ST scholarship

Admission through Management Quota:

Admissions for the under graduate B.Arch., degree programme through management is based on a personal interview
besides the required eligibility laid down by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi and Anna University, Chennai.

Admission through Transfer:

Admission through transfer is done as per Anna university norms.

NATA

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is a national level undergraduate exam which is conducted by Council of Architecture (COA) for admission to 5-year B.Arch programme. Through NATA 2020, candidates can get admission into B.Arch programme offered by Government, Government-aided, Private Unaided, University Departments and Deemed Universities of the country. Previously NATA was conducted once every year, but from 2019, the exam will be conducted twice a year – first on April and the second on July. The admit card of NATA 2020 for the two attempts will be released separately. Candidates can appear in one or both the attempts of NATA 2020. If the candidate appears in both attempts, then best of the two scores will be considered. The eligibility criteria of NATA 2020 has also been changed, with diploma candidates currently no longer eligible for admission. The question paper of the exam has two parts- Part A containing Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) was conducted online, while Part B (Drawing test) was held in offline mode.

NATA 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates appearing for the entrance exam need to meet the below mentioned eligibility criteria of NATA prescribed by the authorities. The eligibility criteria includes the parameters like  qualifying examination, minimum marks required, age limit etc:

  • Qualifying Examination: Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination.Please note that from the academic session 2019, Diploma holders are no longer eligible for admission to architecture program.
  • Qualifying Marks: Candidate must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in mathematics, physics, and chemistry taken together. Additionally, the candidate needs to score minimum 50% marks in aggregate in 10+2.
  • Age limit: Minimum 17 years of age as on July 31, 2020.

NATA 2020 Syllabus

Here we have mentioned NATA Syllabus for both sections:

  • Mathematics: Mathematics will include question from Logarithm, Algebra, Coordinates Geometry, Trigonometry, Dimensional Co-ordinate Geometry, Application of Calculus, Statics and Probability, Sets and Relations and Mathematical Reasoning etc.
  • General Aptitude: Questions will be asked from the topics i.e. General reasoning, Interpretation of pictorial composition, general awareness, texture related to architecture and built environment etc.
  • Drawing Test: Syllabus of drawing test will be comprises topics like Generating Plan, common objects like furniture etc., Geometrical compression, shapes, building forms and elements, drawing of patterns for both abstract and geometrical, form transformation in 2D and 3D etc.

NATA 2020 Exam Pattern

NATA exam pattern is mentioned below:

  • Mode of Exam: Exam will be conducted through online mode and part two will be based on drawing test (pen paper based).
  • Time Duration: Total time duration will be of 3 hours. 60 minutes for aptitude section and 120 minutes for drawing section.
  • Total Questions: Question paper will consist of 200 marks.
  • Sections: Exam will comprise of two sections, i.e. Aptitude Section & Drawing Section.
  • Marking Scheme: 2 marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking in the exam.
